ramblings of a week soul..

ok, i'm back after a long period of absence. it's not that i do not come online anymore..it's just that sometimes, i just do not know what to blog. almost everyone i know now is busy with their projects or studies. even i'm stuck in the fish house lately..making me smell like fish feed. but what choice do i have? a student is as a student does.

ok, i'm down with a horrible flu..my throat was sore, head is spinning, chest feels really congested and my limbs are aching..however, that didn't stop me from attending lectures and going for a movie this afternoon. haha. i've finally caught ratatouille. it was actually quite good. the animation was superb, and so detailed..my my. sadly, i kinda missed about 2 minutes off the beginning...pity.

earthquake in jakarta recording 7.9 on the Richter scale. apparently, a tsunami alert have been issued and everyone is on high alert. well, of course i am concerned too, but i just can't stand the idea that people are actually going crazy just because of the alert. take my mum for example.. now the tv is switched to CNN and all of a sudden, she's so into the quake. gosh....all i can say, divine punishment, god bless..

dad bought me a new camera a week ago. yes, i know. dad actually bought me a camera with no questions asked. none at all...well, of course i didn't dare to ask for much..so, i'd gotten myself a kodak. it's a kodak digital with 8MP and 5x optical zoom. icing on the cake: it comes with schinder lense (best german lenses for digital cameras)

the hungry ghost festival ended two days ago. you may not believe this, but based on my observations, a lot of people pass away during this festival. people are also more susceptible to fever and flu during this season...i lost my paternal grandma and maternal grandpa during this season. this year, i lost another relative over this season..so, u think i'm going crazy?? perhaps a more scientific reason could be used to explain this, but i prefer to think that it's the season..haha

ok, many people have been questioning about my race lately. people are surprised to see and hear my speak chinese... case in point - just now, an old man alighted the same lift as i and was surprised to hear my speak chinese to him. then..he went on and on questioning me on my 'special' ability...my my. ok, i shall now highlight my chinese lineage from here. in fact, i'm gonna highlight the many clans that i come from....my mum, and maternal grandpa is sun wooi cantonese. my maternal grandma is hakka...and the most amazing part..my paternal great-grandmother is a hainanese. could u believe that?? my dad actually have hainanese blood in him...who would have thought....

rex finally celebrated his second anniversary yesterday..boy, am i glad. i feel like a proud parent. although he's just a dog, i still love him to bits....

a friend asked me recently where to find love..any idea? actually, i'm more passive. i prefer to let love find me. i prefer to let someone ask me first..i know that sounds very feminine, but i still like the idea of someone asking me out. i don't see myself asking someone out....gosh. i think i need help. any idea how i could reach the right department to look for the perfect match?? pls guide me there.

ok, i think that's all for tonight. wanna head home to get ready for grey's anatomy. it is one of the best series around....bye

starbucks

in starbucks again...this time, with my laptop. somehow, it's a very crazy experience. here i am, blogging and viewing everything (sometimes, something personal), with the whole world behind my back. anyway, it's a fun idea too. especially when u have two diaper buddies here chatiing (verbally and online), ranting and gossiping. whew..that's life.

everyone's got a problem in their love life. i'm not discounted. in fact, i don't even have a love life to begin with. pathetic as it may sound, i'm still single. i used to love it, but now things have change. i miss company. i miss someone whom i can run to, someone who would cherish me, and someone that would hold me close everytime i need it. somehow, loneliness is slowly biting me from the inside

went out with another clique last night. the gym friends, or more precisely, my jam friends. hell, they are another crazy bunch of ppl. sometimes, it's good to know that age is no barrier to silliness and fun. age is no excuse to hold us back from enjoying life..age is nothing now.....so cool. so, activities include eating, chatting, movie, chatting, laughing, chatting, chatting, chatting and more chatting.. so cute

ok, gtg now. feeling really rude to blog while i'm here chatting with diaper buddies.

ciao

SCUBA

my my, where do i begin. my scuba trip was simply awesome. it was one of the most amazing experience that i promise to treasure forever. thinking back, the world underwater is somewhat more amazing and splendid than what we see on land. this trip was ideal as it finally gave me a break from the mundane life...

let's see if i could put bits of my trip here.. well, i left on saturday night. i wouldn't say that the bus ride was bad, but the seat was really bad (beneath the central air-con vent), and was next to a malay guy (thank god he went off in kluang). managed to sleep for a while in the bus...but it wasn't really good. anyhow, reached mersing really really early (8.15) and spent half the day exploring the town. it is really quaint. not as old as some places in georgetown, but still quite quaint. in fact, i love that simple feeling of a small town. anyway, spent the whole day in mersing (and in KFC there), and left the jetty at 5pm.

the trip to pulau aur was rough. the waves were high and we were basically flying in the boat. the speed boat was so fast that it sent water splashing everywhere..well, we reached there 2 hours later (normal boat ride= 6hours). dinner was provided by the resort and was rather nice. and the best part of the trip, i managed to secure a room with 6 bunks and no one to share with...haha (the other 4 guys have to share another room). slept like a log that night as i was so tired from the bus ride.

next morning, first dive was after breakfast. it was the start of my most wonderful experience. i managed to enter the water safely, and went really far below. was able to see so many wonderful things...the corals, sponged, kelp, fishes (including a pufferfish n a couple of lionfish), nudibranch, sea cucumbers, sea stars and loads of mollusc. it was simply breathtaking. in the words of my friend : it was like watching discovery channel but in real life). second dive was after lunch, off the pontoon. there, managed to see the whole staghorn coral bed, sea cucumbers, and more fishes. best part, a school of barracuda actually swam in front of us....wow. at night, sat for my theory exam and passed with flying colours... i was only a step away from being certified.

day 2 was also another exciting day. both dives were at teluk jawa, off pulau dayang. the morning dive was more interesting as the water was clear then, and fishes were all very active. was again bedazzled by the beauty and splendour of the underwater world. also performed a few skills in order to be certified...in the evening, completed the other few skills, and wala...i'm now a certified PADI diver. pity, as i didn't manage to see any manta ray, dugong or whale shark. another pitiful thing was that the turtle only revealed itself after we surfaced...

note to self, i need to go diving more often...and to more exotic spots, so that i can see what i really wanna see. my ultimate dream is to swim with the belugas (was a childhood dream). but now, i wanna swim with the turtles, play with the manta rays, and watch the whale shark feed. come on, who wouldn't want to see the largest fish on earth...

ok, enough of my trip. now, it's back to the normal life of mine. filled with datelines, experiments, sampling, fishes, and the such...so long for now
